Nancy's Birthday

Nancy, my mother out-law (sounds better than in-law) shares her bday with my niece Nevaeh. This weekend we celebrated with her. She had a craving for Benihana's so we took care of that

The next day we told her we were driving up to see Nevaeh, but in fact we all gathered for a surprise party at the Horgan's home. She WAS surprised. I thought she was going to kill us!

We'll always have Costa Rica (In Huntington Beach)

Dan's sister Laura was out with her whole family from New Jersey for our wedding and luckily was able to turn that into an extended vacation and we got to spend more time with her and the kids. The last weekend she was here we took her out for Mai Tai's and appetizers (we ended up having wine and a full dinner) and found the "Hidden Garden" room inside Kona restaurant. I thought we'd been teleported to Polynesia...
Well, this section felt more like Costa Rica...

On a different day we went with Laura, John and the kids to the Discovery Science Center. I loved the dinosaur exhibit.
Thanks Laura, Ron, Erica and Ryan. We had so much fun with you... can't wait till next time!

Part TWO Honeymoon: Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley

Our last night at Northstar there was a "Retro Skate night." We were all over it. Of course, we had just finished several days of Downhill riding at Mammoth and Northstar with -thankfuly- no injuries, only to eat s---t on the darn roller skates!

We still had a blast...Cracking each other up and laughing more than skating...
We followed Retro skate night by a yummy sushi dinner...
The next morning we arrived at our next and final destination, this charming little honeymoon hideaway right by the lake! It was a surprise to me, and it was just perfect. How does he do it?
It was cozy inside and we even had a huge jacuzzi tub!
We were lucky enough to catch the sunset across our hideaway a few times...
And found ourselves at the coolest outdoor bars, with a total tropical feel... we had to remind ourselves we were in the mountains!
We spent 4th of July day on the beach...
Took out Kayaks out to "sea" (couldn't believe how blue and clear the lake was!)
Which we paddled down to yet another tropical feel waterfront bar for Bloody Marys and appys
Spent 4th of July afternoon/eve on a "cocktail cruise" and had a blast...
Happy Independence!!!

Our next stop was Squaw Valley and we did the Lake Shirley hike... we never hike, as we are usually on bikes, but it was a gorgeous hike, along a big stream...
It was a pretty gnarly hike!
It took us two hours to hike up to Lake Shirley, and Dan dove in for a dip!
Then we hiked further...
And further... till we hit patches of snow
Another hour of hiking and then the top!
And up and over, we arrived at the very top where the resort was. If it wasn't for the snow patches, this too, felt like we were somewhere tropical!

Part ONE Honeymoon: Mammoth and Northstar

The day after our wedding we spent catching up with a few friends and family that were still up in Mammoth for that Sunday. Having breakfast, coffee, then lunch, a trip to the top of the mountain by gondola, and then took a ride off the top with all the boys.

Annie got all crazy on my bike. She's a wild one this one... Dano and I waiting for the shuttle to go back up and ride it again... and again... and again!

The next day we departed to our second love, Northstar resort at Tahoe for even more extreme mountain biking, extreme relaxing and very extreme Honeymooning... (our new favorite sport) Our condo was right across from the Village. We were able to walk to EVERYthing, including the lifts...
Actually, the lifts went right OVER our condo... They're small, you could pick them up... hold 'em.
Biking at NORTHSTAR is the most fun I have EVER had on my bike. I am torn between two loves... Mammoth vs. Northstar... Hmmmm.

This is me (Tati) on "Livewire." Only the most awesome Downhill Mountain bike run in the universe. (Well, MY universe. Considering I have not yet been to Whistler, BC.)

Nailed it! That's my husband!!! I did not dare hit it... not this time! There's always next time!
Taking a breather
I really feel my jump technique got better this trip. Dan rode amazing (pls refer to huge exposed log jump above...) The trails really are amazing and there's so much to work on each time. Very technical rock gardens, a lot of jumps, beautiful berms, and let's not forget a fabulous watering system on Livewire...
